It is clearly a time of celebration in Atlantic City. The entire town is buzzing with the debut of two casinos on the same day.

Wisely, some properties have tried to capitalize on the wash of new people in town. In fact, the Showboat Hotel, situated between the two new places, recently announced the completion of its upgrades.

This wave of player club reciprocity is the same idea. However, for Hard Rock Atlantic City and Ocean Resort Casino, it’s also a time of discovery with these systems.

Both properties are desperate to bring in customers, particularly deep-pocketed ones. Customers are hesitant to leave their normal casinos if they have built up comps, status, and benefits.

So, the new properties have to be a bit more forgiving than usual. Even so, they must also guard against people inevitably trying to game the system.

For instance, Ocean Resort had to begin denying upgrades for Hard Rock Royalty members. The new casino found that patrons were upgrading at Hard Rock with lower-tiered cards, then walking two blocks and achieving the highest level of service at Ocean Resort.
